Insulating spandrels comprises of either heat-treated or toughened glass component and a spandrel separated with a spacer bar with an insulating material from 35mm upwards in thickness (dependant on level of insulation required) fixed onto the spandrel surface of the unit.
The Foam in inset onto the glass to allow the Insulating Spandrel Unit to be glazed as normal into a window system.
The insulation material has a thermal conductivity of 0.022 to 0.023 W/m.K zero ODP (ozone Depletion Potential) the rigid urethane insulation is one of the most thermally efficient insulation product available. The insulation material achieves the required U Values with minimum board thickness; it achieves the required fire performance for the intended application, and is free of CFC/HCFC emissions.
Applications
Insulating Spandrels are ideal for a whole range of applications, on both the inside and out-side of buildings and can be used with most spandrel applications where insulating is necessary;
Exterior Serves as an ideal option for external wall cladding and roofing.
Interior Flooring, Wall partitioning, Stairways etc.
Advantages
Weather resistant: highly resistant to extreme weather conditions, as well as to the chemicals found in air pollution
Non-flammable and resistant to sharp temperature fluctuations
Certain insulating panels can be combined for multi-purpose applications (E.G. thermal insulation, fire resistance etc.)
Insulating Spandrel is easy to maintain as the insulated panels can be cleaned in the same way as conventional glass
